Daily Log – Ponderings & Productivity

Was feeling super productive yesterday, and I filmed myself playing Doki Doki Literature Club for almost 5 straight hours. I also ended up staying up late watching a YouTube video about the lore and history surrounding Sylvanas Windrunner, WoW’s very own Banshee Queen, and then felt inspired to play a little WoW myself until I couldn’t keep my eyes open.

Sylvanas has such an interesting back story, and she’s a total badass! Yes, her current morals are questionable; I just hope that she won’t meet the same fate as previous Warchiefs anytime soon…

Today productivity has been fairly stagnant, and I’m inclined to blame this awful headache of mine. I recently just took some Advil to team up with the caffeinated Tylenol already in my system and hopefully that will rid myself of this pain sooner rather than later. But even though I’m not feeling particularly inspired to work on videos today (plus I can’t actually edit any of my DDLC footage until I buy a USB adapted for my camera’s SD card), I did feel like filling out a journal page in the wellness section of my planner – and from there, I decided to continue that journal entry here for you guys πŸ™‚ It’s been way too long since I’ve posted here anyway, and even if this just ends up being a stream of consciousness journal entry, I thought getting some of my current thoughts/feelings/ideas out of my brain and sending them out into the universe might be a positive use of my time.

Firstly, I finished playing Yuri’s route in DDLC yesterday – I powered through the rest of the game with the help of a Fuzzy Navel within arm’s reach (that’s peach schnapps and orange juice, for anyone who might be hella confused), and man this game did not disappoint! I won’t go into spoiler territory, but for anyone who isn’t easily disturbed, I highly recommend playing this game, as it breaks so many of the traditional conventions and tropes of both video games and literature. As if you need any more incentive to play this game, it’s freeeeeeee!

Fair warning for anyone considering playing this game – it is not what it seems. That’s pretty much all I can say about it without getting into spoiler territory.

Secondly, and maybe it’s because I’ve just been so fascinated with learning about the lore lately, but I have been wishing for a long time now that I could do something on my channel involving World of Warcraft. I know that it is a very difficult niche to crack into, especially when you’re somebody like me who is more of a game enthusiast than a gamer with any actual talent πŸ˜› But with the inevitable release of the newest expansion, dated for September 2018, I was thinking that one thing that’s more or less missing with regards to helpful WoW content out there is about levelling up a character. With the Legion expansion, there is so much end-game content to dive into, and I’ve personally been loving it, and it’s this expansion that helped reintroduce me to the WoW world in the first place. But with the introduction of new factions, and valuable incentives being offered for those who take the time to level up these new factions from level 20 to 110 the old-fashioned way, I thought that maybe there could be a way that I could make that aspect of the game interesting and fun.

Tbh, grinding for levels can be one of the most annoying parts of MMORPGs like WoW, and while there are some people that absolutely love playing that way, it is far from my favourite thing to do, and I know that mine is the more popular opinion. But lately I thought that maybe I could figure out a way to make that process fun – maybe I could start a series where I level up a Nightborn character from its starting level 20 all the way up to the current cap of 110. If I can find a way to make that fun for me, then I’m sure I’d be able to find a way to make it fun for viewers as well, and maybe even people who don’t play WoW on a regular basis could find my videos entertaining. I don’t know, maybe that’s a bit of a stretch, this is just an initial idea, but it’s one that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately…

The Nightborn are definitely my favourite allied race on the Horde’s side from Battle for Azeroth so far. I can’t wait until I get to start playing with the Alliance’s Void Elves as well.

Truth be told, before I start thinking about new projects and series for my channel, I should really focus on optimising how I produce, edit, and upload my videos in a timely fashion. I’ve been having trouble with maintaining any kind of a regular schedule, and I know that consistency is crucial when it comes to starting a YouTube channel. I would love to find a method that not only works on a regular basis but also helps me get ahead of schedule so I’m not constantly scrambling to get my videos made.

I’m hoping that I’ll be able to figure out a routine that works best for me ASAP. It’s been quite the struggle, especially with headaches and sudden drops in motivation to tangle with. Hopefully you’ll be hearing from me soon – I think I’d like to write a little bit about how I’ve been managing my overall wellness thanks to the help of my planner, so stay tuned πŸ™‚
