Hey, long time no see you guys!
I was quite busy over the course of the last month, and I have been this month as well, but when I was suddenly bitten by the writing bug, I decided it was finally time to give you guys an update: both about what I’ve been up to lately and what I plan to be working on in the near future.
Probably the biggest change in my life has been this: I’M A YOUTUBER!
I was finally able to take the plunge, and on January 15th I launched my gaming channel on YouTube. In those videos I go by the name MotorDaffodil64, as well as other places on the interwebs and social media where I’ve been trying to spread the word about my channel. I hit 10 subscribers a couple weeks ago and while that might still be a small number, I believe in celebrating even the smallest of victories 🙂
On my channel, I’ve been enjoying a variety of games, and I plan on playing even more in the very near future. The past 2 weeks I’ve gotten a bit behind with uploading videos, which is why I’ll be spending the remainder of this week catching up so that I can get ahead and so I don’t have anymore big lulls like this in the future.
To go along with my YouTube channel, I also plan on launching my own Patreon page very soon so that I can start earning some income for my videos. I’m not currently set up to do live streams yet, but the moment I am I will be trying to make streams a part of my weekly routine. I’ll be aiming from next week forward to launch videos 4 days a week. Here is one of my recent videos to give you guys a glimpse of the kind of content I’ve been making and sharing on YouTube:
On top of getting into a regular uploading schedule on YouTube, I’ve been thinking a lot about other projects I want to start working on – more specifically, about projects I want to bring back. Along with being bitten by the writing bug, I’ve begun to miss some of the content I used to write about in my spare time – book reviews, planner layouts, nerd-specific content, etc. I used to do all of this on my most successful blog, The Written Word(s). Unfortunately, I fell into inactivity around the time I was preparing to move into my grandmother’s house a few years back.
Typically when I lose interest or no longer have time to work on a project, I tuck any thought of it as far away as I can to avoid any anxious and guilty feelings that come with the work I’ve abandoned. I don’t know if it’s because of my recent visits to a counsellor that has really been helping me sort through some of my mental health issues or if I suddenly have a more optimistic outlook, but I’m thinking that once I am able to manage my time with my YouTube channel without a huge amount of effort, I could dedicate any spare minutes to writing fun blog posts on The Written Word(s) 🙂
That doesn’t mean, however, that I would be shutting down this blog – this space is a more personal one, where I feel I can write freely about mental health and my inner demons, and even just a place where I can post the occasional journal entry to help me sort through what’s going on in my own brain. I always felt the urge to write more personally on my original blog, and Lost Inside Space has given me an outlet to finally do so.
My YouTube channel, as it is a business I’m starting from the ground-up that will hopefully earn me some sort of income in the future, will be my #1 priority. But I’m hoping that blogging both here and on The Written Word(s) will be a form of self-care that I continue to contribute to as time goes on 🙂
Think that’s all for now 🙂 Stay tuned for more updates! If you’d like to be notified of any videos that I post on my gaming channel, feel free to subscribe and turn on notifications, or follow my channel’s twitter account and Facebook page to be informed of each video that I upload.
